Lone Wolf & Cub is a Japanese manga, but Frank Miller really nothing to do with it. First, the story was published in English, Miller had a couple of blankets, which was his only involvement. It was first published in Japan in 1970, became very popular (sold about 8 million copies in Japan) for his epic and powerful samurai, and his first description of the horrific violence during the Tokugawa era. The story lasted for 28 volumes of manga, written with more than 300 pages each (a total of more than 8700 pages in total) by Kazuo Koike and illustrated by Goseki Kojima.

Lone Wolf and Cub was the first time in North America by First Comics in 1987, published as a series of monthly reports, the prestige of the square format and black-and-white comics that 64 to 128 pages, with covers by Frank Miller and later by Bill Sienkiewicz and Matt Wagner. Sales were initially strong, but declined significantly since the company has concluded a general decline. First Comics published in 1991, closed without completing the series, less than one third of the entire series of 45 questions Prestige format.

Since 2000, Dark Horse Comics began publishing the entire series in 28 small bag of trade, closing the series with the volume 28 th 2002nd Miller Dark Horse re-issue of all sections of the First Comics, and several made by Sienkiewicz, and commissioned by Wagner and Guy Davis, new covers of several volumes of the collection run. Mike Ploog, Ray Lake and Vince Locke also contributed cover English translations of the series.
