Buy an AD & D Player's Handbook. Do not think we used to play beginners. If the memory is only likely to take points on the plane 2 Maybe 1 spell.

Edition Never heard of it. There are D & D Basic, Advanced D & D 1 and 2 Edition (all 3 are exhausted), D & D 3rd Edition and 4th Edition of the 3.5 Edition, not to my taste and I play since 1978.
